Me, Myself, and I
I am 20 years old and I go to Iowa State University for a major in Computer Science and a minor in Business. I am from southwestern Wisconsin, United States. I love computers, sports, and many other things. I am near the top of my class academically and athletically and I'm a born leader. I am a generally busy guy, always working, doing homework, playing sports, volunteering, or spending time with family.
I began programming at the young age of 11. I've had a good amount of experience and I produce clean, easily readable, easily editable, web-standard code -- both client-side and server-side. I excel in spelling, mechanics, and mathematics. I'm a speedy learner and a friendly, easy guy to get along with.
Some Things You May Want To Know
- I taught myself how to program. Besides a super basic Visual Basic and C++ high school course, I have taught myself entirely everything (Note on 11/20/2007: up until now in college with Java).
- I mainly program websites. I'm not much of a software developer (if I can help it).
- I program ASP and PHP with several types of databases. You can see more about the services I offer on my services page.
- I do not use a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor. I'm referring to programs like Microsoft Frontpage and Macromedia (now Adobe) Dreamweaver. I think these are neat tools for someone just learning to program, but for any serious work, it's just not the way to go. These programs produce ugly code, and don't abide by any good rules. I use good ol' Notepad, specifically Notepad2, which is a Notepad extension with some syntax highlighting and a few other goodies.
- I'm always willing to try something new. I like new projects - even if I haven't done something like what I've already done, I'd most likely love to work at it. Odd, unique, and special projects are welcome. :)
